The snakes vary greatly in size, body mass and species, from small enough to hide in one's sleeves to larger than buildings, and thin enough to be used to tie someone's hands to strong enough to choke a colossal animal like the Island Turtle. Although common snakes cannot speak human language like toads, some of their summoners could communicate with them. They are able to detect live beings by their heat and smell in order to track and lead their summoners to their prey.

The snake clan is a versatile and able clan, dating back to the old civilizations. They reside in the Ryuchi Cave, hidden within the world, away from humans. The snakes only recently begun to give out their contract again due to the beckoning of the Tailed Beasts, and are rare and selective. Their sizes range from a length of meters to kilometers, and are extremely supportive in assassination, infiltration, and reinforcement tactics. Their current boss summon is Nagato, a female, two-headed venomous snake that stretches to three kilometers.

The snakes of today are much different than their ancestors, and will not tolerate evil deeds and breaking loyalties. After an initial warning, they will break off the contract with anyone they deem unworthy. Most snakes, as stated above, are centered around the use of their bodies in Taijutsu, able to wrestle and suffocate many things. Certain snakes have also mastered the use of medical ninjutsu, applying it on their fangs. Additionally, the snakes are related to the Naga Clan, a The only known way to learn it is in the Ryuchi Cave with the White Snake Sage.

[b]Summoning Process:[/b]  Sign the contract. Then, execute Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, Ram, and apply chakra to bloody hand and plant the hand on a surface where the snake will be summoned.

[b]Drawbacks:[/b] Most snakes are strictly close-ranged, meaning they will be mostly useless in a long-range battle other than medical support. The medical snakes only exist up to C-Rank, and can only support a full medic when dealing with higher-ranked wounds. Only certain types of snakes can be effective in cold climates; otherwise, the snake has to be near a heat source, such as fire or the summoner, or else they can't stand the cold.
