General Description: Naoko is covered almost entirely with clothing. In fact, the only bit of skin he reveals are his fingers, due to his gloves. Because of his Kekkei-Genkai, he wears a filtering mask that stops the unwanted spread of his spores, but takes it a step further and also wears a set of dark goggles that completely shroud the rest of his face, which would make him hard to spot, if he didn't wear it every day. Underneath this, he has sharp features with a small nose and narrow eyes. On his head he wears a black headpiece which covers the area around his face and his chin, as well as his neck, but for no reason other than aesthetics, he wears a purple-tinted cap that resembles a mushroom cap.

For every-day attire, he also wears a tight black tanktop beneath a purple shirt that is bunched underneath athletic wrap covering his lower arms. This wrapping is mimicked on his legs, which lead down into his sandals, which are standard. He carries his tools pouch on his right thigh, but typically lines his more common tools on his belt, for easier access. When travelling, he also wears a brown, hooded and sleeveless robe that conceals all of his clothing when closed.



Personality: Naoko is a boy of mystery wrapped in a bow of silence. Having been confined inside of his clan's plot of land for almost all of his life, he has been brought up with their strict customs and traditions, mostly that everyone else is out to get them. He is cautious about everyone and everything, building up a sort of facade with his full-on mask, becoming something that can appear anonymous at all times. Fearing that anyone he comes into contact with will want to harm him or his family, Naoko is not a very trusting person. He doesn't believe that people can be true friends, mostly because he hasn't experienced that sort of relationship before. It goes without saying that he hasn't let many people actually see what he looks like underneath his layers of mask - he is in desperate need of allies and of people who he can depend on, even though he appears to view the world as a loner.

Because of this, Naoko can come off as a dead-beat and a bit of a villain. He is often uncaring and extremely apathetic about the world around him, but this would be the result of having no emotional connections outside of his extended family members. Don't let it fool you though - he not only doesn't have ties outside of his clan, but he doesn't want any. He's built up sturdy mental and emotional barriers and does not intend to let them fall any time soon. He is incredibly touchy and somewhat short-tempered, although in reality this is just his sheer cautiousness molding with his worry. He is worried about everything around him, to some degree. If someone bumps into him, they must've been making a passive-aggressive attack. Nothing is coincidental and the entire world is out to get him, essentially, is the mindset he's developed.

It should be noted that Naoko's worrisome personality hasn't reached a dangerous extreme yet. By that, I mean there are two ends for him - one where he realizes that he doesn't need to worry as much as he inevitably does, and one where he allows himself to consumed with caution and worry. It is not uncommon for others of his clan to fall prey to their own minds, and Naoko is merely oblivious to this possibility. One of Naoko's hobbies is examining intriguing wildlife, Mushrooms mostly, but all forms of flora and fauna interest him, especially flowers.

Likes: Naoko doesn't particularly like many things. He does like his clan, though - he likes everything about it, to the point where he's almost worshiping the respected elders of the family. He holds respect for them, but not for anyone else. He likes solitude more, though. His clan is okay, but he would much rather be by himself whenever he gets the chance to, mostly because there would not be such a large threat of chaos or injury. He likes rain - not that he ever really feels it because of his concealing clothing - but he really enjoys being outside in the rain, mostly because of the sky. He also enjoys the night, and any other time of the day where there is relative peace, such as the early morning. Because of this, he has developed a bit of insomnia and forces himself to stay awake during the night, which tends to hamper his performance during the day. His favorite food, which he of course never eats in public, is smoked pork.

Dislikes: This is much easier, so we'll start as simple as possible. Naoko hates other people. As long as they don't share his blood, that is - if he isn't related to them, he finds them uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and unbearably dangerous. Because of this, he is quick to engage in combat, but dislikes having to fight in general. He hates showing off his family's powers too much, but knows that it is his greatest weapon. Although he hates everyone, he especially hates people who are too outspoken or easy to set off, which is really ironic, considering that he is very touch himself. That brings us to the next point - Naoko loathes it when someone slanders his clan's name. No one will get away with that on his watch, and he is willing to fight anyone because of it. That doesn't mean that he enjoys fighting in that situation, though. Naoko is also not a big fan of particularly warm weather and/or dry days, and really hates any foods containing potatoes or copious amounts of salt.

Motivations: He knows that he is the future of his clan, and that their name rests on his shoulders now that he is a part of the much larger shinobi world. 'To live and die in the name of my father, and the fathers before him - that is my Nindo'. Doesn't get any more obvious than that, but he is also pushed along by a growing sense of urgency, that his time is now running short and he needs to do whatever he can within that amount of time. To make this clearer, imagine that he believes an hourglass has been flipped over on his lifespan, and at any moment, it can run out. While this is tied into his fears, he will do whatever he can to survive and prosper before his timer stops entirely.

Fears: A lot of things scare Naoko to a small degree. He is very cautious and holed-up, so even the kindest of gestures may appear to have some level of danger and death to them, due to his mind dwelling on the subject. But, if anything truly scares him - truly digs into him deep - it'd be losing the honor of his clan. The way that he lives right now would dictate that his name is his life, and if he were to lose his clans title or be forever shunned, he would be devastated. The same effect would happen if he couldn't defend their honor, although he is not scared of the possibility of death in the slightest. In fact, he only seems to be afraid of immediate, physical pain, in that respect. Quite an odd boy.

History: Naoko was born into the Anzutake clan's main branch family, even though the family doesn't worry about distinguishing between their branches and main house. Like the majority of the clan, he was born with their coveted Kekkei-Genkai, was henceforth forced to wear a protective mask when he was old enough to develop true spores. As a small child, between the ages of about four and six, Naoko had a true fascination about the world around him. He was never allowed to leave his clan's domain, but he was constantly hearing stories about the village and the shinobi world as a whole. He can remember, specifically, what his parents will drill into his mind - that the rest of the world was evil, out to get them, and could not be trusted. Having grown up with this in mind, Naoko was still incredibly curious about it. When the civilized world became the enemy, he turned to nature for entertainment, spending time in the clan's gardens to examine their work.

When it came time for him to train to become a Shinobi, he wasn't actually given a lot of say in the matter. Because he was from the main family branch, there was a lot of pressure (mostly by his parents and living ancestors) for him to become a shinobi. He started training alone with his father when he was seven, but was then moved to the clan's main training group a year later, having excelled a year before the other trainees. A very bias system put into place simply because they did not trust their own village with their younger generation, Naoko was taught how to harness his Kekkei-Genkai as well as standard shinobi training and technique. The actual method of learning within the clan was much tougher than the Ninja Academy, as physical punishment was typically standard for failure, but Naoko never truly failed. He was not at the top of his 'class', but he had an obvious edge over his fellow students, and graduated a year before them, at age twelve.

Naoko's training didn't end their, though. Of course, the village tasked him with taking their traditional exiting exam as the other Academy Students had, to see if he was truly ready to become a Genin. He passed moderately, just like any other student, and was allowed to graduate normally. However, his own clan kept him within their walls for a year, or more specifically, his father did. With the pride of the entirety of the clan on his shoulders, Naoko was taught more advanced lessons concerning his bloodline trait, as well as battle tactics for the front lines. This was odd, as even Naoko knew that these procedures seemed to be geared more towards soldiers than traditional shinobi, but the extra tutoring certainly helped him. At the age of thirteen, it is time for him to leave the nest and begin his adventure as a shinobi - and simultaneously, this is his first time outside of the clan's borders.

RP Sample: His satchel was full today. It had been a good harvest, he believed, he being Naoko. He wasn't harvesting rice or other crops of the sort though - he was harvesting flowers. Particularly, the dark-violet flowers he'd noticed sprouting between the buildings of the Anzutake compound. This was a pretty standard procedure for Naoko at this point, he'd always collected the specific wildlife that interested him. He'd amassed countless wild mushrooms within his own home, but they were uninteresting. After one examine the same kind of bland mushroom over and over, one would want something more advanced to look at. And these flowers - he hadn't deciphered their name yet - were also so grand. This wasn't the first time he'd gathered them, but they interested him and always seemed to be seasonal. He picked them whenever they sprouted, and they always sprouted in the same spot.

Sadly, upon further analysis, they didn't seem to be very special. But perhaps it was just their appearance, which was incredibly vibrant, as the yellow inner-workings of the flower contrasted with the dark violet of the petals, that made them special. When Naoko returned home that afternoon, he carefully lay them out on his work-desk, countless other specimens in glass jars all over the counter-top, although they were all filled with pretty standard plants. Made it seem like he was doing something important, he thought. But these flowers deserved better than a standard glass jar. Instead, he filled a cup half-way with water, rested the trimmed flowers inside, and placed them at the edge of his desk.
