General Description: Aki is a male. No really, he is. His slender physique, his not-really-outstanding height, his wide, expressive eyes and his perfectly cured hair might indicate otherwise, but he is most definitely a male. His pale complexion adds to the overall attractive-yet-delicate appearance, and so do the freckless he has around the zone of his nose, cheeks, and mouth. Overall, his feminine traits make him extremely handsome to the eyes of females and males alike, a fact he likes to exploit to his own advantage. To further enhance the general effect, Aki has made a point of following a strict dresscode, only wearing colors like dark red, crimson and black, because they create a sophisticated contrast with the color of his skin, eyes and hair, making him look even more stylish. The long sleeves of his shirt get larger at the end, covering a relevant part of his hands and being engraved with the Hyuuga clan's symbol in the back (as can be seen in this image). This peculiarity has actually a use in combat, as it is exploited to conceal Senbons, Aki's weapon of choice.
He is also a fanatic of nail art and an accomplished nail artist himself, always decorating his own nails with complex motifs that further add to his feminine appearance.





Personality: Aki is a cunning, clever boy, an excellent observer, and a pragmatist. When he was a mere kid he was taught about concepts like honor, respect for the opponent, observance of traditions, and fair fight, and then he reflected about how a guy with a slender physique, very few muscles and not-particularly-outstanding ninjutsu capabilities (and nearly no understanding of genjutsu matters, at that) was supposed to live by such ideals in the highly selective world of shinobis.
And he soon concluded that it was simply impossible. He therefore developed his own fighting style, which relied not only on the typical abilities of his clan, but also on apparently sincere smiles, very feminine remarks, a maniacal respect for etiquette, and groin attacks when the opponent least expects them: in his vision, a fight is something that begins way before the ninjas lock horns on the battlefield, and the most important thing to survive (and possibly win) is to maneuver oneself into a favorable position. And the best way to achieve a favorable position is to lead the opponent to underestimate you: this explains his way of dressing, his willingness to keep in touch with his feminine side, his passion for nail art, his perfect manners, his use of honorifics even when talking to enemies, and his use of "boku" to refer to himself (unfortunately, this last trait will be lost while roleplaying in English). It is all part of a complex tactic, to lead everyone who meet him to underestimate him, to think he is not a big threat, maybe even to take him lightly: if everyone, even his own companions and allies, are deceived into believing he is not a dangerous guy, it will then be easy for him to find an opening to sneak a blow throught the opponent's defenses when they least expect it. As a result, it is currently unknown what his personality is truly about, as everything he has shown since his childood, from his gentle way of smiling to everyone he talks with to his politeness and cheerfulness, from his easy-going behaviour to his respectfulness, from his feminine ways to his love for nail art, is part of his façade, of his strategy to survive in the tough world of shinobis.
This also makes him very happy of being a Hyuuga, not because he is proud of the noble origins of his family, but because everything about the clan fits perfectly in his strategy for survival: the fact that it is an ancient clan with a noble aura to it is perfect to lead opponents to underestimate him, as his feminine behaviour will lead them to believe that he is a spoiled brat who was raised in luxury by noble, rich parents, and thus has no knowledge of what a real fight is, and the characteristics of the Byakugan and the Gentle Fist are perfect for incapacitating an opponent with a well-aimed sneak attack. As he knows full well that his peculiar eyes allow him to see the key spots in the chakra flux of a person, he soon learned how to use senbons to deal great amount of pain to opponents before they can even realize what's going on.
It is important to notice that Aki is not evil, he is not a manipulator and most definitely he is not a coward: simply, he loves life and is perfectly aware of his limits, and is therefore willing to do everything in his power to prolong as much as possible the former in spite of the latter. Also, he is not the kind of guy who would betray his companions: when working in a team, he tries to apply his strategic thinking to the whole unit, finding ways to maximize th strengths of the group and hide the weaknesses, in order to guarantee to everyone a safe return home, which in his vision is the most important thing in a mission. What he lacks in strenght, he makes up for in speed, reflexes, and tactical analysis.


Likes: More than anything, Aki loves life, and the ways of prolonging his own while shortening that of his enemies. He also loves coming up with strategies, analysing every situation to find ways to exploit it to his advantage, and turning the opponents' strategies against them. He is proud of being a member of the Hyuuga clan (even if this may be part of his façade) and he is genuinely enthusiastic of the abilities that come with it, specially the Byakugan.
He has a wholehearted passion for nail art, to the point of stopping in the middle of a fight to restore the decoration of a nail, if it got ruined during a fistfight. One of the reasons why he is so fond of the Gentle Fist style is that it allows him to strike with the palms of his hands, thus preventing his nails from coming into contact with the bodies of opponents, which may break them. Finally, he loves looking as fashionable as possible even in the middle of a fight, which is why he always wears shades of red (it creates sophisticated contrasts with his pale skin, his blonde hair, and his green flames).

Dislikes: Aki hates people who give no importance to life, from cold blooded murderers to people who contemplate committing suicide. He cannot stand those who ram into action head-on without studying the situation beforehand, and he hates it when his straegy are turned against him. Disrespecting his clan is a sure way of picking a fight with him, however, even when enraged, he will always keep his composure, and never neglect to use proper honorifics: in fact, he hates those who are impolite, specially those who don't use proper honorifics and refer to themselves as "ore", which sounds as arrogant; for him arrogance is a synonim of stupidity, and thus he would never stand to come off as arrogant, for a matter of coherence.
He absolutely hates it when his nails are damaged during fights, and he cannot stand people who don't cure their look, which will often lead him to give away fashion tips, even in the middle of a fight.

Motivations: Aki was quick to learn the value of life, specially in a world like the one he was born in, where people can die so easily, of so many different things. Therefore, his main motivation for fighting is to get back home in one piece, possibly while protecting the life of those who are important to him in the process. It may be argued that such a reasoning makes little sense: if he values survival so much, and if it is so important to him to save his own life and the life of those who are important to him, why did he choose a job as dangerous as the ninja in the first place? Had he become, say, a chef, it would have been far easier for him to stay alive without even having to fight...
Well, the reason for that is to be found in a past event of his life, which will be dealt with extensively in the "History" section. However, we can anticipate that the reasoning we just brought up ("why becoming a ninja if it is so dangerous?") was exactly the way his father used to think, but Aki found himself disagreeing with him after a traumatic event.

Fears: Aki is scared to death of... Well, death. For him to die or to witness the death of a person that is close to him would probably be the worst thing that might happen to him. He also has a minor phobia towards bugs and spiders whichm depending on their size, can easily freak him out: a fight to the death against a member of the Aburame clan is probably the worst nightmare Aki can possibly imagine.
And of course, the mere thought of breaking a nail or ruining his nail art is enough to keep him awake at night.

History: Aki's father, Hyuuga Masaru, is one of the members of the Hyuuga clan who were quick to take advantage from the apparent downfall of the clan, by saving money, buying, selling, trading, investing, and in general doing what noblemen have always done in the centuries: turn the sails in the direction of the wind, survive, and eventually prosper. Finding himself very rich as a result, Masaru decided to cut all relationships with those members of the family who were still trying to rebuild the greatness of the clan via wars and conspiracies, using his money to make clever, diversified investiments and soon being able to start a worldwide trade agency that quickly made him one of the richest merchants in all the ninja lands.
Aki was born in a hotel room quickly adapted as nursery: his parents were journeying from Hana to Niwa because his father had some remunerative business to attend there. The first years of Aki's life were therefore lived on the road, tripping from a village to the other as his father attended to his business and his mother tried her best to give him a proper education. He never knew what it means to desire something, as there was nothing his father's money couldn't buy for him: however, this didn't manage to spoil him, as his father soon decided that Aki was old enough to be explained about how business works, in order to one day become the heir to the trade agency. And a merchant can be very strict, when it comes to teach his son how to handle the money he earned, and the son will one day inherit.
When he was ten years old, Aki learned from his father the most valuable lesson of his life: it is important to make sure that other people underestimate you, because if they think you are stupid an harmless, they won't realize you are tricking them into doing business at your own terms. This lesson later became the foundation of Aki's fighting style, and phylosophy in general.
The big decision of leaving the family business and becoming a ninja came when Aki was eleven: his father had always told him that the best way to avoid troubles is to stay away from them, and avoid looking for them at all costs; if you never cross dangerous people and stay away from troublesome guys, you'll have nothing to be afraid of. However, one night their convoy was assaulted by a group of nuke-nins, who were looking to steal the goods they were transporting: many servants of Aki's father, and even a close collaborator of his, lost their lives in the attack, and Aki's father barely managed to escape with his own. This event caused Aki to understand that nobody is safe in the shinobi world: in lands like those, where the law of the ninjas is the only law, and those who are stronger survive, staying away from troubles is impossible, as there will always be someone ready to prevaricate, attack, destroy for their own gain. The only way to protect those who are close to you is to personally go to the belly of the beast, and slaughter it before it can get anywhere close to them, and only those who have the courage of taking matters in their own hands can survive and protect their loved ones. Having understood this, Aki decided to leave the path of the merchant and become a ninja.
Of course, his father wasn't happy about it at first, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't persuade the boy to change his mind: as Aki's father was from Kumo, and his father was interested in establishing a branch of his trade agency there anyway, the family decided to settle in the village of the Land of Lightning, so that Aki could attend the local Ninja Academy. Obviously, more than a bureaucrat has something to say about a person who never showed loyalty to any village suddenly wanting his son to become a shinobi of Kumo, but nothing a reasonable amount of money couldn't cure.
They still had to live for 3 years in the village and prove they weren't suspicious people nor spies, but finally, at the age of 13, Aki was able to join the Academy. Now, 3 years later, with his newly acquired title of Genin, Aki is ready to step in the dangerous world of shinobis, to prove the strenght of his ideals, and possibly to get back home by dinner time in one piece.

Snatched what land? Public land that didn't exist? Which countries was he snatching land in? If you're referencing Niwaurushi land; then you're mistaken, because there where strict limits on the amount of land that could be privately owned until roughly 5 years ago IC time. Kumo was off limits entirely. No one wanted Makkura land until very recently. This isn't a huge issue, but you'll need to tweak it slightly.

The Clan Description for Hyuugas states that it fell from grace, with its branch system crumbling, only "recently", so I thought it was a matter of one generation or two at most. Anyway, I edited out the reference you adressed.

As for the "lands" Aki's father got his hand on and sold, I simply meant original properties of the Hyuugas: one would figure such an old, noble and rich clan would have fields, farms, and the likes all around their native village; then again, maybe I am in this mindset because I am from Italy, and in Italy nobility is strictly tied with possession of vaste rural areas, something that maybe does not exist in other cultures, so yeah, I edited to a more generic "various properties of the clan" to avoid the difficulties you pointed out.

Also, I tried to do a spell check, but being a non-native english speaker I most likely missed many mistakes, which as a result are still there: apologies for that, most of my ten years of roleplaying were spent in italian sites and/or international sites which however were not so picky about spelling, so I am still having some trouble to a more strict style... I will do my best in the future, promise.

No worries, there weren't a huge number of mistakes, and they were mostly those small mistakes natives make all the time as well. It's less that we're picky or strict; we just try to make the effort to keep quality high; but at the same time, you're not the first nor the only non-native user, so we completely understand. So long as you're making the effort, which you quiet obviously are; you're fine.

As for the rest; it's a case of really old clan sheet that really needs to be updated it seems; Hyuuga was an original/import clan when we first started; and it hasn't had a lot of love/attention; update wise. The reason why the land selling and holding doesn't work is because their ancestral lands were poisoned and worthless until the end of the Plague Arc; which ended 5 years ago IC; hence the time quoted. Noble clans owning large tracts of land makes sense in this context; sure; just the site history makes it hard to have used them the way you wanted, that's all.
