Clan History:A clan of doujutsu users; this obviously makes them rather revered among the village hidden in the clouds. Though no one will explain exactly what makes doujutsu so coveted other than the fact that it uses the user's eye and generally looks cool, that's for another story. Born with this particular one, the Sukogan, for many years the Kogane were treated as godly taijutsu and kenjutsu fighters. The ability to see the smallest of details came exceedingly handy in melee combat as every little action gave the opponent's next movement away unless they were coy about it. (Faking hits was a commonly used strategy as the Kogane became reflexive towards all movements; making this more a weakness than a strength)
It wasn't until an accident that the "scope" version of the Sukogan was discovered and the tai and ken using members of the clan began to fall off. It made it useless, really- when you're focusing on fighting close up why would you need to see far away? It was a conscious choice whether you wanted to use the scope or not, yes, but it felt like it defeated the purpose of the clan itself. They felt downgraded from hand-to-hand monsters to super birdwatchers or something.
Luckily one day a smart little girl got an amazing idea. If this amplifies are long ranged sight, she questioned, shouldn't that mean we should try fighting in a long-ranged style? ... Needless to say the elders felt like idiots for being wuss' about the loss of their clan's main style and didn't even consider other options. Instead of letting them mope around the twelve-year-old female kicked everyone into gear and urged them to pick up things like kyujutsu and ninjutsu.
You have the ability to amplify something, why would you shy away from that simply out of self pity for it not being what you were first expecting?
As people became more adjusted to using the longer ranged weapons they grew amazingly effecient in that regard; switching from using a sword or their fists to using arrows and senbon between the modes of their unique ability.
The girl who started this whole new revelation and made the Kogane clan something to be feared again is the current clan head at eighty-nine years old, Yui.

Kekkei Genkai: Sukogan
Kekkei Genkai Description: The Sukogan is a doujutsu kekkai genkai which focuses on enhancing the physical aspects of the eyes, disregarding chakra based sight. When activated, needing only a blink, the eyes will become a dull gold (regardless of original eye color); as well as receiving three black rings around the pupil. The outermost ring is the largest and bolded, while the secondmost is thin and the outer ring the closest ring is between the two in terms of size and definition. The pupil also undergoes a transformation, changing into a soft gray. The Sukogan allows the user to see small details that normal eyes would miss- such as dust mites, tiny markings, hairs on an insect- as if they were zooming in. Likewise, the user of this doujutsu can
literally zoom in with concentration as if they were looking through binoculars or a telescope, allowing clear sight for up to a long range away. (As in, retaining perfect details.) While this is active members of this clan are adept at reading the minutest of facial expressions, giving them the ability to distinguish truth from lies and the emotions the other is feeling; if they know where to look.
Drawbacks: - Clan members gain tunnel vision when the "scope mode" is active. This makes it a very bad thing to use in heated/close ranged combat.
- Going with above, concentrating on things close up when the "scope" is in effect is exceedingly difficult. All Taijutsu and Kenjutsu, as well as melee chakra flow techniques, gain -1 in power during this time.
- As the naked eye isn't used to seeing such an amount of detail in the world around them, they tend to become strained after five posts of this being active. At seven posts it begins to feel painful to retain. At nine posts a migraine will develop and the ninja is cautioned to turn it off. Focus is hard at this point regardless. At twelve posts the eye is automatically shut down and unusable for the rest of the topic. Reaching this point multiple times may result in loss of the kekkai genkai.
