The goal of any ninja is to become stronger, and to rank up.

Now, as a little gift to every village we’re giving away freebie slots, this means slots that you don’t have to actually rank up to (otherwise meaning, you’re instantly ranked). The freebie ranks are as follows:

*** Note: Please understand that just because you have taken a freebie ranked slot does not mean you will get to keep it. Your ability to keep the spot is based on activity, which does not include being in the chat box. Basically this means you must be actually using the character, unless you can provide a decent reason as to why that is not doable. If you fail to do this then you will lose your ranked spot and it will become free for someone else to be ranked into.

Please understand that the ability to get these freebie ranks will depend on your character application. For each rank you must add 200 words to your base 400 you need for your history. So this means:

Genin: 400+ Words
Chuunin: 600+ Word
S. Jounin: 800+ Words
Jounin (A-Rank): 1,000+ Words
Kage/Jounin (S-Rank): 1,200+ Words

Chuunin Exams will be held when needed for those wishing to participate to rank up from Genin to Chuunin.

But, you can also rank up through missions and Kage approval.

Genin - Chuunin: 5+ missions, must have 3D, 1C
Chuunin - S. Jounin: 10+ missions, must have 3C, 2B, and Kage Approval
S. Jounin - Jounin (A-Rank): 20+ missions, must have 10C, 5B, 3A, and Kage Approval
A Rank Jounin - S Rank Jounin: 25+ missions, must have 10B, 10A, 3S, and Kage Approval

If you're not the sort to want to do missions there is a second way to earn your ranks:
Genin - Chuunin: 2500 Ryo or Chuunin Exam
Chuunin - Special Jounin: Kage approval, 3500 Ryo, Special Jounin Test
Special Jounin - Jounin(A): Kage Approval, 4500 Ryo, Jounin Test OR Kage approval, 6000 Ryo OR Jounin (A) Test
Jounin(A) - Jounin(S): Kage request, Admin permission, Jounin (S) Test

Please note that you cannot use funds from other accounts to fund your rankings. The Ryo you use to pay for them must come from the account you're ranking up. Also be aware that there is a post limit between when you are able to rank up again. This is as follows:

Genin -> Chuunin: 50+ Posts
Chuunin -> Special Jounin: 125 Posts
Special Jounin -> Jounin(A): 175 Posts
Jounin(A) -> Jounin(S): 250 Posts

What this means is that you must have 50 or more posts on the character you wish to rank up before you may do so if you're going from Genin to Chuunin and so on and so forth as you rank up. You will not be allowed to rank until you have the appropriate number of posts. You must still have either the ryo for the rank you're wishing to purchase, or the appropriate number of missions before you can be ranked up as well.

Now as you know, your rank determines the amount of chakra you are able to use at any given time. Each rank comes with a set, base amount of chakra, which through various means may be expanded upon to set degree.

The bases are as follows:

Genin - 200 chakra
Chuunin - 300 chakra
Special Jounin - 400 chakra
A-Rank Jounin - 500 chakra
Kage/ S-rank Jounin - 600 chakra

So the basic system is that you start at base 200 chakra, and gain an even 100 chakra per rank up.

These amounts are not set in stone. As you rank up, you are able to raise your chakra by a maximum of 50 per each rank up you achieve. So in total; you may gain up to an addition 250 chakra by the time you reach S-rank, for a maximum of 850 chakra. Additional chakra will be awarded via chakra beast sealing or special events; unless the staff feels that the basic caps should be raised. The current maximum cap for chakra is in the air, as we're having some issues with people gaining huge amounts of event chakra legally, then taming Bijuu and shattering the old cap. However, because the extra chakra was gained legally, we're not in a position to deny it. So, for the moment, there is no stated maximum cap for chakra, however we will place limits within the realms of reason.

In order to gain the larger chakra pools, you will need to undergo specific training; outside of all other training. Normally you are able to combine several training types into one thread, so long as you maintain the required word counts, however in this case the training to gain more chakra must be done completely separately. When training for chakra pool upgrades, you must title the thread properly; much as you would any other training or a mission.

You are able to train up to the amount of chakra you're able to gain at your rank. A Genin would only be able to train for 50 chakra; where as an A-Rank Jounin could train 150 chakra all at once. The word counts for training do compound, so it can get a bit heavy to train all at once at higher ranks.

For each 50 chakra you train, you are required to complete 1500 words of training. That means that for each level of chakra, you would need:

Genin- 50 chakra: 1500 words
Chuunin- 100 chakra: 3000 words
Special Jounin- 150 chakra: 4500 words
Jounin (A) 200 chakra: 6000 words
Jounin (S) 250 chakra: 7500 words.

Bumping to reflect changes:

Mission count for Genin - Jounin (S) has been changed, lowered, due to it becoming easier to purchase rank ups.

Update: A few small changes. Request for ranks above Genin require admin permission. Slight update to the maximum chakra limit, as well as clarifying the maximum chakra you can normally gain, and stated training requirements.

Bump for an update. We have switched out the number of IRL weeks you have to wait between rank ups and have instead implemented a post limitation that must be met before you can rank up to the next rank.
