| Clan Contract: - Fennec Fox Clan:
Summoning Contract: Fennec Foxes Animal/Plant Type: Vulpes zerda Elemental Affinity: / Specialization: Ninjutsu Summon Type: Fennec Clan; Offensive; Defensive; Supplementary Rank: S Description:- Wikipedia:
The fennec fox weighs about 1.5–3.5 lb (0.68–1.6 kg), with a body length of between 24–41 cm (9–16 in); it is around 20.3 cm (8 in) tall. It is the smallest species of canide in the world. The tail has a black tip and is 18–31 cm (7–12 in) long, while the ears can be between 10–15 cm (3.9–5.9 in) long.
The coat is often a cream color and fluffy, which deflects heat during the day and keeps the fox warm at night. The fennec's characteristic ears are the largest among all foxes relative to body size, and serve to dissipate heat, as they have many blood vessels close to the skin. The ears of a fennec are sensitive enough to hear prey that may be underground; the soles of its feet are protected from the hot desert sand by thick fur.
The basic social unit is thought to be a mated pair and their offspring, and the young of the previous year are believed to remain in the family even after a new litter is born. Playing behaviour is common, including among adults of the species. Fennec foxes make a variety of sounds, including barking, a purring sound similar to that of a domestic cat, and a snarl if threatened.
The fennec fox is a carnivore. Food sources include rodents, insects, birds, eggs, and rabbits. An individual can jump up to 2 ft (61 cm) high and 4 ft (120 cm) forward, which helps it catch prey and escape predators. When hunting, large eared foxes such as the fennec, or the bat-eared fox, can seem to stare at the ground while they rotate their heads from side to side to pinpoint the location of prey, either underground or hidden above ground. There are reports that fennec foxes climb date palms while foraging for fruit; however, some experts consider these reports unlikely unless low branches are available for support.
The species is able to live without free water, as its kidneys are adapted to restrict water loss. A fennec's burrowing can cause the formation of dew. They are also known to absorb water through food consumption; but will drink water if available.
Fennec foxes are social animals that mate for life, with each pair or family controlling their own territory. Sexual maturity is reached at around nine months old. In the wild, mating usually occurs between January and February for litters to be born between March and April. However, in captivity most litters are born later, between March and July, although births can occur year round. The species usually breeds only once each year. The copulation tie has been recorded as lasting up to two hours and 45 minutes. Following mating, the male becomes very aggressive and protective of the female, providing her with food during her pregnancy and lactation periods.
A fennec fox's typical den is dug in sand, either in open areas or places sheltered by plants with stable sand dunes considered to be their ideal habitat. In compacted soils, dens can be up to 120 square meters, with up to 15 different entrances. In some cases different families interconnect their dens, or locate them close together. In soft, looser sand, dens tend to be simpler with only one entrance leading to a single chamber.
A specialized, almost subspecies of the little foxes that roam the desert sands; the Fennec clan protects and guards their fox allies fiercely. The clan was the original inhabitors of the valley oasis that the clan now resides in; and it was their efforts to lead the ancient clansmen out of the raging sandstorm that allowed the partnership between them to develop. The vast majority of the foxes are slightly larger then normal for their species; standing several inches taller and several pounds heavier; with slightly thicker fur in proportion to the rest of their kind. This is the direct result of the copious amount of care, protection, and provision the Fennec clan provides; which has allowed the foxes to focus more on growing and less on basic survival. It is not unheard of for the oldest and most powerful of the foxes to grow to giant sizes; reports of foxes the size of camel are not hard to believe; given the numbers of confirmed sightings. Members of this fox clan also tend to be far more playful then the average Vulpine species; even compared to the relatively player Fennecs of the main desert, they are clownish and carefree. The attitude is shared by their human guardians; the clan has a carefree and happy demeanor that is rare among the stoic desert nomads. The foxes are highly protective of their friends and summoners; making up for their small sizes with quick speeds, plenty of agility, and the ability to dig through the sands like a fish swims through water. Summoning Process: All members of the clan have a single fox from the clan that is permanently summoned; and treated as a low ranked combat pet. This fox is raised from birth by the user; and can be upgraded as such. This fox must be created using the pet template. All other members of this contract are summoned via the normal means: blood summon, scroll summon, or palm summon. Drawbacks: The foxes are typically very small in size; better suited to tracking and hunting then for actual combat. Their bodies are unable to handle large amounts of damage, and their ears are very easy targets. However, the largest members of the clan can be formidable opponents; and nothing moves through the desert sands like Fennec Fox. Cold is the mortal enemy of this clan; because their bodies are highly specialized to handle hot climates; and as such will quickly freeze to death unless properly cared for.

Purchased Contracts - Saguaro Cactus Contract:
Summoning Contract: Saguaro Cactus Animal/Plant Type: ( Carnegiea gigantea) Elemental Affinity: Suiton Specialization: Ninjutsu Summon Type: Offensive; Defensive; Supplementary Rank: S Description: - Wikipedia:
The saguaro (/səˈwɑroʊ/; scientific name Carnegiea gigantea) is a large, tree-sized cactus species in the monotypic genus Carnegiea, which can grow to be over 20 meters (~70 ft) tall. It is native to the Sonoran Desert in the U.S. state of Arizona, the Mexican state of Sonora, and the Whipple Mountains and Imperial County areas of California. The saguaro blossom is the State Wildflower of Arizona.
Saguaros have a relatively long life span. They take up to 75 years to develop a side arm. A saguaro without arms is called a spear. The arms are grown to increase the plant's reproductive capacity (more apices lead to more flowers and fruit). The growth rate of saguaros is strongly dependent on precipitation; saguaros in drier western Arizona grow only half as fast as those in and around Tucson, Arizona. Some specimens may live for more than 150 years; the largest known saguaro is the Champion Saguaro. It grows in Maricopa County, Arizona, and is 13.8 meters (45.3 ft) tall with a girth of 3.1 meters (10 ft). These cacti can grow anywhere from 40 to 60 feet. They grow slowly from seed, and never from cuttings. Whenever it rains, saguaros soak up the rainwater. The cactus will visibly expand, holding in the rainwater. It conserves the water and slowly consumes it.
The spines on saguaro having a height less than 2 metres grow rapidly, up to a millimeter per day. When held up to the light or bisected, alternating light and dark bands transverse to the long axis of spines can be seen. These transverse bands have been correlated to daily growth. In columnar cacti, spines almost always grow in aureoles which originate at the apex of the plant. Individual spine growth reaches mature size in the first season and then cease to grow. Areoles are moved to the side and the apex continues to grow upwards. Thus, the older spines are towards the base of a columnar cactus and newer spines are near the apex. Current studies are underway to examine the relationship of carbon and oxygen isotope ratios in the tissues of spines to the past climate and photosynthetic history of the plant (acanthochronology).
The night blooming white and yellow flowers appear April through June and the sweet, ruby-colored fruit matures by late June. Saguaro flowers are self incompatible thus require cross pollination. Large quantities of pollen are required for complete pollination as there are numerous ovules. A well pollinated fruit will contain several thousand tiny seeds. The major pollinators are bats, primarily the lesser long-nosed bat, feeding on the nectar from the night-blooming flowers, which often remain open in the morning. There are a number of floral characteristics geared toward bat pollination: nocturnal opening of the flowers, nocturnal maturation of pollen, very rich nectar, position high above the ground, durable blooms that can withstand a bat's weight, and fragrance emitted at night. One additional piece of evidence is that the amino acids in the pollen appear to help sustain lactation in bats. The flowers remain open into the daylight hours and continue to produce nectar after sunrise. Doves and bees appear to be the primary daytime pollinators.
The ruby red fruits are six to nine centimeters long and ripen in June. Each fruit contains around 2000 seeds plus sweet fleshy connective tissue. The fruits are edible and prized by local people. The fruits cannot be picked by hand, but must be harvested using a pole 2 to 5 meters long, to the end of which is attached another pole. The O'odham tribes have a long history of saguaro fruit use. The Tohono O’odham tribes celebrate the beginning of their summer growing season with a ceremony using a fermented drink made from the bright red fruit to summon rains, vital for the crops.
One of the rarer desert summons, the saguaro cactus is famous for it's ability to suvive and the stores of water that can be found within them. Every part of the cactus is useful in some way, from storing water within the bloated trunk after the rains have departed to the eadible fruits and spines perfect for weaponry. The cactus summoned via this contract are semi-sentient, able to follow simple directions and attack on their own when threatened. The vast majority are able to use some form of water based jutsu; as well as fire a barrage of needles and cause serious damage via blunt force attacks from it's arms. - Images from Wikipedia:
Summoning Process: Requires a contract with the Saguaro Cactus clan. Summoned via blood or palm summoning process. Very young cacti may be carried around in small pots for easier care and usage. Drawbacks: All summons require a short 'charge' time in which they gather water through their roots before they are able to use any water based attacks. This charge can be reduced by actively soaking the plant in an ourside source of water. Until they have absorbed water, the cactus are susceptible to fire and can be burned down before they can be used effectively.
