Winds brushed the frozen ground, stirring small snowflakes and causing the robes of the Korikage to shift gently as he watched some of the shinobi under his command training, his uncovered eye watching everything with interest as he simultaneously got a feel for the chakra of everyone present. Never know when being able to identify someone purely by chakra could be useful.More to the point, however, watching fresh duel was, quite frankly, not that interesting. Watching the new recruits as they grew was something he'd decided to do to be a good kage, but he hadn't planned on it being so dull. Admittedly he couldn't say he was much better than they were fresh out of the academy, but watching a baby walk still wasn't all that entertaining after the initial novelty value. He was trying to find some reason to leave when he heard rushed feet heading his way. Turning his attention back to poorly-thrown kunai and a comical battle between a pair of animated snowmen, he waited for the sound to draw near.

Casually turning around as he was approached, he viewed an exhausted-looking chunin clutching a scroll. Gasping for air, the ninja simply handed it to the kage as he caught his breath. With an eye arched, Hiromasa unrolled the small scroll and began reading, a frown appearing on his face. "Lord Kage, a small town has been razed to the ground out in the wastes!" the messenger managed to explain in between gulps of air, simply reiterating what the kage had just read. Both convenient in the moment and cause for concern; bandits have always been a problem  on the frozen plains, but for the most part they simply robbed and stole on occasion in unspoken exchange for not causing any serious damage and keeping greater criminal threats out. A town being razed was a strong indication that this system had failed somewhere along the line or possibly something much more dangerous. "Get me a couple of ANBU and have them waiting in my office in ten minutes, ready to visit the remains of this town. Make sure at least one of them is a tracker."

Paperwork. Awful. Several days after the report on the attack, Hiromasa was sitting in his office as he sometimes was, tearing through paperwork. His initial intention to go see the site of the attack himself had been thwarted by other things and now eagerly awaited a report on what had happened. As he was nearing the point where papers began "disappearing," an owl flew in through the window, bearing a scroll.

Opening the scroll, the first thing he saw were copies of paw prints. Reading through the report, his eyebrow raised. His people had determined that the attacker was likely inhuman, capable of using fire as a weapon, obviously, and had tracks that burst randomly into flame. Huh. They also had a lead as to where it was currently located, given the easiness of following the pawprints even through snow simply by following the patches of melt. "Enough paperwork for today, time to go meet this...whatever." Said the Korikage, jumping out the window, his robes flapping wildly in the winds.
