The mishun:

A dark shadow dashed across the rooftops of Korigakure, moving fast enough that to most it was simply a blur,a flicker of movement interpretable as a trick of the eyes. In no time at all it entered the Umgekehrtnacht district, dropping into the streets below. Quick, quiet feet approached the house he was looking for, a soft chuckle breaking the silence of early morning before it was followed by a loud crash as the door to the house was kicked in. Sensing his student's chakra, Hiromasa ran through the residence to her, a kunai materializing in his hand and approaching her neck, though it would stop short. "Hey, Ju-kun, wake up. We have work to do." With that, he turned around and walked casually back out of the house, out the broken door without another word.

Juno was, of course, sleeping at the time. She had Faust and a solitary arrow tucked under her pillow, and had nothing on but her black underwear. Going face-up in her sleep with a blanket over her, the Genin slowly awakened as a loud noise sounded in the house. Footsteps approached her, and in the matter of time it took for a kunai to appear in the assailant's hand, Juno had her own steps of return. As the assailant went through the door, Juno grabbed the bow and arrow and begun to lift her body up. As the assailant got his kunai, Juno began bringing back the arrow on the string. As the assailant moved his arm to her neck, the arrow was fully pulled back at the assailant's jugular, and the situation would become a stalemate.

As it turned out, Hiromasa's arm went between the arrow and the bowstring and approached her neck, making the situation very tangled. The raven-haired youth just sighed. it was her sensei with a mission. "Bloody hell, man, don't do that." As the Kage exited the room, Juno quickly rushed to put on her stuff. In a minutes, she was fully clothed and armed, complete with her hidden arsenal in her clothing. The female followed the male out of the house.

"So, what's so important that I don't get a briefing and it requires the Korikage himself to do it at a moment's notice, hm?" She queried to her teacher, a bit disgruntled at her awakening. If anything, it may be a quick-response mission, at least B-Rank. ...Or it could be Hiromasa being bored of paperwork, taking some random night mission, and wanting to piss her off. That could be it too.

"Well, one thing you'll figure about me eventually is, I don't do briefings unless Maya makes me. Hate those almost as much as paperwork. Just point me at the bad things and I'll do bad things to the bad things so they don't do any more bad things, right?" He shrugged. "Anyway, we're on a hunt. Something wiped out a small shanty town in the wastes a couple days ago and we're gonna find and capture it. Or kill it if that proves to be too much of a pain in the ass. We could use a chakra beast for the village though, need to get our military strength up to snuff. We don't know exactly where it is though, so you and I are going to visit the site where it was, uh...discovered, namely the charred ruins. Folks I sent before couldn't find much trace, but they weren't sensors. Hopefully if it's as strong as I'm being lead to believe it'll be easy enough to pick up a trail of some kind. If not, we'll do it the old fashioned way and just start scouring the hills near it. Honestly this mission is likely a good bit above your paygrade, but my teaching style is all about repeatedly plunging you into dangerous situations and seeing if you can survive on your own. If you can't, I'll probably be able to save you before it bites you in half."

"Seems easy enough. Any sensor worth being a sensor could probably pick up a thing made up of pure chakra. Problem is, the power on it. Wiping out a civilian shanty town is something any good Special Jonin with a Katon affinity could do just quality, I would think, so it's at least B-Rank." Juno thought about the situation a bit.

If it was charred to the ground, that would mean it has something associated with either fire or electricity, and she would have to bet that it would have to be the former. Electricity tended to break and shatter things before actually burning them. She'd have to get a second opinion. "Well... charred, huh? You think it's a fire beast, or lightning?"

Additionally, she begun thinking of her chances with the thing, whatever it was. It's gotta be somewhat large, so it's a good target, and it has a good chance of being quite aggressive. Sensorship should stop any sneak attacks. If anything, if it's fire, she'd have to lace the snow with explosive tags and activate it for quick-reaction cover or dousing out, and she may have to go with melee and Clan tech. A burst of heat could melt or burn any normal artillery she had, and explosive tags didn't have a bloody chance of getting sufficiently near it. If she wanted a kill, she could just pull out her kunai blades and go ham.

Problem was, the priority was a capture. She could try her clan techniques to stun it and keep tossing it into the snow, but she'd have to try and ram it into something blunt. Honestly, she was equipped for assassination, not for capture. Juno decided that using Clan techniques while it's in the snow is a prime strategy, but she'd have to see what her fighting ground would be to make any more strategies.

"Reports indicate the attacks were katon in nature. That's why I'm bringing you along mostly, in case it summons some giant wall of fire and I get all paralyzed with fear. Not a fan of fire at all, you see. Just shoot me in the head if I start acting like a baby, yeah? Remind me I can spit out a small lake at will, I tend to forget things when people shoot enough flame at me."

Reaching the top of a hill, Hiromasa saw their destination, or what was left of it above the snow. Charred, roofless buildings and assorted piles of wood scattered in a roughly circular area and corpses slowly being covered by snow scattered everywhere. The Korikage frowned and ran ahead of Juno to the center of the village, looking around expressionless as he reach down and  put a hand on the snow. "This was a pure civilian village so their slaughter doesn't help us figure out hows strong this thing is. The trackers I sent left these out here in case we could figure anything out from them, I imagine. We'll bury them before we continue," He said, dashing this way and that, collecting the charred bodies and placing them in a row. "Start digging, Ju. I'm gonna see what I can sense." Sitting down, Hiro focused intently on the area around him, feeling for all the chakras.

"Yes, sensei." Juno droned neutrally. Inwards, she was deviously storing such SSS-Rank information away into her mental folders, eager to use it against him should she ever be subjected to his evils of paperwork, laziness, and absolute annoyance. But she wouldn't show it. Like a good ninja, Juno just trailed behind her teacher, never letting off any sign of her schemes.

She paused when Hiromasa reached the hill, her face blank as she kept her composure for her job. Yeah, the place was a big mess. Bodies everywhere. Bowing her head slightly in respect of the dead for a few seconds, she sighed. Back to business, however. Juno took heed to Hiro's words of advice, but added her own thoughts into them. The thing was confirmed to be at least a B-Rank. If even one civilian had a decent improvised weapon, then there would be at least one sign of life. Juno scanned the area with her less superior sensing and didn't find anything.

While her teacher was grabbing bodies, she looked around herself to see what environment it was. Buildings still stood, but were shaky and would collapse given the right explosions in the right places, which provided her with a killing tool. There were also several blunt weapons, one of them being a rusty shovel in the snow, that could be picked up and used for a bit. No sign of a steady wall for her, so it's either she used the broken buildings as cover or fought in the open. She'd rather not do the former.

Given the order to dig while he sensed, she nodded. Juno grabbed the rusty shovel and found a large patch of dirt that was protected from snow by what could have been a gazebo not too far from their current position. "Honorable death for honorable people, I suppose..." She muttered to herself. After getting the hole around six feet deep, she picked up a body and dropped it in, starting her work to cover the impromptu grave.

Raising an eyebrow at Juno's muted reaction to being given gruntwork, Hiromasa ignored her for the moment and focused. It took less than a second to find the answer he was looking for, buried under the snow. Not far down, a few inches maybe was a very definitive chakra trail. in fact, it was everywhere, absolutely all over the ruins, little dots of chakra and even occasionally seemingly implanted in some of the corpses, though they were burned too badly for anything to be seen.

Normally he'd have simply maintained "Concentration" and let Juno finish all the work, but burying his people required more maturity than that. Besides, time was important. "I don't like being in a rush, but we can't spend too long here;we have a job to do," He said, his voice without its usual joviality. Weaving a seal with blinding speed, he created a small army of water clones, which immediately set about digging holes and burying the fallen. Hiromasa himself took no part in it, digging his hand under the thin layer of fresh snow and pulling out a broken piece of wood, formerly part of one of the houses nearby. On it was an odd marking, similar to a cat's paw, that emitted a very slight chakra signature. Judging by all the other signatures nearby, these markings were all over the place and, more importantly, leading in a single direction away from the town. Waiting a few minutes as the corpses were clear, he simply began following the trail without another word, the clones dissipating harmlessly.

She put down her shovel as the clones begun digging, and looked over his shoulder at the piece of wood. "Seems a bit small, huh?" Juno thought about it for a few seconds. Thi was going to get much harder. A small target in a large possible space? She could only hope that chakra beasts were as flamboyant as she had thought of them to be, making them easy to sense or even see. The main problem was aiming at the damn thing. Those footprints were way too small! She'd have to resort to explosive tags yet again. "I hate aiming at small things..." Grumbling the last part, she followed her sensei on the trail away from town. Not nearly as strong as her teacher in the art of sensors, she didn't exactly find a good trail that he did. "Hey, sensei. You think the bloke's speedy, or has a real strong fire?" Something that size taking out an entire village would probably mean a sense of speed, if not power, or both. "Nothing that tiny should be able to wipe out a town."

"Impossible to say, really. It could be strong, could be fast...important thing is from whose perspective we're making those claims. In the shinobi world it's probably not too hard to run down a town full of fisherman. To them, even a genin can seem like a speed demon."

Hiromasa followed the trail for some time before he felt it. On the horizon of his sensory abilities was an odd chakra, made absolutely of katon and very certainly not human. "There is is," He said, sounding disappointed. "That...is not the world-destroying monster I had been imagining, and what I said earlier has turned out true. This thing would never have defeated any place with more than a couple low-level shinobi guarding it, which is more an indication to me that I need to have people paying more attention to our outlying people. There's no reason for a town, however out of the way, to be wiped out by a chakra that small. Anyway, let's go get it." Suddenly, something pricked his hearing,coming up behind them and a short time later a chakra entered the other end of his sensory radius, followed by heavy breathing and the sight of a chunin who had enjoyed many a good meal in his time came running over the snow, gasping. "Lord Kage, not an emergency, but Maya-sama insisted I run this to you immediately. Your presence is requested in Niwa-"the chunin coughed loudly"gakure."

Hiromasa frowned. The timing was poor, but it would not do to avoid responding to such a request; truth was such a thing was long overdue, and he was just glad it hadn't been the kage of Yokuchigakure to send out such a message. He thought for a moment. "Very well. We have located the chakra beast we set out to find, and I have every intention of being the one to handle it, namely by watching Juno handle it, but still. Set up a few shinobi to watch it, keep an eye on its movements and, only if need be, engage it if it attacks somewhere else. Avoid finishing it off it you can without serious injury. I've not seen one of these before and I'd prefer to have the firsthand experience."

Without waiting for an answer he began walking back towards the village. "You coming, Ju-kun? You're not exactly my bodyguard but I need someone to attend to my need for tea in between meetings and help me with some very important research regarding this foreign village." he said, pausing with an amused twinkle in his eye. "I will be sending you out to do sneaky reconnaissance to inform me on the military strengths and weaknesses of Niwaurashigakure's cuisine. More importantly, you could do with getting to see a new place, maybe run a few simple missions  in foreign territory if they're amiable to the idea. We need to fix that whole illness you've got there. Being a genin, that is." Now for the final step he thought, grinning inwardly. "Of course, if you prefer to stay here I'm sure Maya has all kinds of fun and exciting adventures in store for you in the ninja world of ninja-brooming and scrubbing ninja toilets. Can't let you stay here and laze about now, can we?"

Niwagakure? What was happening, some meeting? Juno relaxed at bit as her sensei proceeded to relay information about the capture of the chakra beast, and proceeded to look around the area she was in while he did so. Hills, rocks... Is that a snake? Eyes widening, she approached the little thing as it slithered towards her, not even hissing. Snakes weren't around this type of area, were they? There were only a few, and those were... chakra-enhanced due to the weather. Juno looked both ways before crouching down at it, staring at it intently. How peculiar... by itself, eh? And it didn't even make a sound, it was just present, in a way. The snake looked up and stared back at the girl. They both stared at each other for a bit of time.

Suddenly, Hiromasa walked back, and the black-and-yellow reptile slithered up Juno's arm which was near to the ground. The sniper turned her head quickly as she stood up, not phased at all by the snake moving towards her shoulder. "Yeah, whatever, I'll be your maid." Suddenly, words of espionage came up. "Oh, I can do-" ...Wait a second, what? "Cuisine? You want me to try their food for you?" She scratched her head, confused. The snake tilted it's head. "And... did you just call me dull?!" Juno accused the Kage. She rolled her eyes and the reptile gave a long, deep hiss at the male. "I'm not scrubbing toilets. Fine, I'll be a bloody tourist for a bit."

She then pointed at the reptile on her shoulder, also walking to the village. Her voice seemed to fade away to the unfit chuunin. "Hey, what do I do with this snake? It seems to be chakra-enhanced, from my readings. Maybe I should keep it as a pet and name it. Jaeger? Ackerman? How about Panzer? Oh, okay. What do you think?"
