Mission Taken - Guard Duty:

So, another mission being thrown her way. Hikari had been a very busy woman for the past few days, but she didn't mind. Being busy meant she wouldn't be bored - besides, it was more money in her pocket, which meant she could help out more than she used to be able to. She didn't want to leave this village, and so she was going to do everything she could to make sure that they could continue to live there: including coming up with the money needed for them to all remain.

Her latest mission was simple: another over-night of protection duty, only this time around she was to protect an individual merchants stall. There had been a vandal, a thief, running around in the night stealing their stuff, and this particular merchant didn't want to risk having to take such a loss. So, she was going to be paid for sitting outside of his stall all night long and making sure that it remained safe. It wouldnt be hard, really, and she would get a chance to get a decent bit of reading in with her new ghost novel she had bought.

So, with her new braille written novel tucked under her arm she arrived; just as the sun was beginning to set, something she could tell as she could no longer feel the warmth on her face that the sun caused. She gave a friendly wave to the merchant as he left and plopped herself down. She rested her back against the cart, and kept the bottoms of her feet placed on the ground so that she could continue to sense with Shinsai if anyone was around. The merchant owner was the last one to leave after all.

She propped her book up in front of her and began to read with her fingertips; all while focusing. Page after page she continued to read. Even when she picked up on the nearby movement of someone who was likely trying to hide but failing miserably. However, as she continued with her reading she felt the individual take off; obviously her presence was enough to startle him away, which was just fine with her since she wasn't looking for a fight.

The rest of the night passed; and with it so did her book. The sun rose as she finished up the last page. She stood, dusting her butt off and tucked her book back under her arm as she smiled in greeting to the merchant as he arrived. "Someone was sneaking nearby, but other than that no harm - no one messed with your stuff at all. I got a lot of reading in too."

"Thank you very much, Hikari. Here's some ryo for your efforts.", said the merchant as he paid her. HIkari nodded her thanks and then took off towards home, looking for a decent nights worth of sleep.
