Description: The signature technique of the Katō clan. Using pinpoint chakra control, they can make their mental and physical energies, and thus their soul, materialize and leave their body as a ghostlike version of themselves. They get a +1 in rank to their speed in spirit form, but can disguise their visual presence by moving at normal speed.
The body cannot be detected by any technique that would do so via chakra; techniques that detect via heat signatures or electrical signals, etc, may find the body, as it is still alive. The spirit itself has no physical form, but is essentially the source of all chakra in a person (even if not chakra itself), so it may be sensed by chakra sensory techniques with -1 to their effectiveness. Genjutsu do not affect the user's soul as there is no cerebral Keirakukei to manipulate, and do not affect the body as there is no consciousness to manipulate. As a spirit, the user is immune to all types of jutsu that only exist on the physical plane. HOWEVER, the user's body, having lost its consciousness, is completely vulnerable to all non-Genjutsu techniques.
As users can enter the bodies of other humans as easily as phasing with something else, this technique is perfect for reconnaissance or ambushes; the user can go completely unnoticed by sensory and Doujutsu users if they are not versed in the chakra signature of the possessed person (the user's chakra temporarily meshes with the host's). While the user can control the person they are possessing*, they can also communicate with them within their mind, or even perform jutsu from inside the host body (though these cannot require any sort of manual cooperation from an unwilling or unknowing host). As the user's spirit is not actually anchored to the host's body, the user takes no damage if the host is harmed. If the user is somehow discovered by the host, the host can expunge the user after 1 post, so long as the host is not more than 2 ranks lower than the user.
If the user's original body is hit by an attack of equal rank (strength of a Taijutsu/Bukijutsu blow, a jutsu), Chuunin must cease all action and return to their body within 2 posts or the total damage to the body increases by 1 rank. If the user's body is killed while their soul is outside their body, their soul simply ascends and they die.

*Player Characters, NPCs with accounts, or key characters of missions cannot be controlled via possession. Errant NPCs such as random ninja and civilians, however, can be controlled (they are treated with the same specs/etc. as the user and are assumed to have no more weapons than the user). Player Characters or account NPCs may be controlled with permission from the player.

Description: This technique is an application of the Reika no Jutsu to another WILLING person. The user supplies natural energy to the target's body to stabilize it and prevent it from dying, in place of their own powerful life force. It has the same attributes as the user's Reika no Jutsu, only requiring the base 40 chakra to function. The target needs to 'train' for 1000 words to become accustomed to a spirit form and use it correctly. The user needs to be in constant contact with the target's body to sustain this technique; alternatively, if the user also Spiritualizes, the released souls cannot be more than 10m from each other.

Description:Due to being so attuned to the spiritual plane, clan members have the special ability of sensing other human spirits; this is specific to their own self, so the radius of sensing is wherever their soul is. This is distinct from sensing chakra or biological functions, as it is impossible to suppress one's spirit, even by the Katō clan themselves. While it is technically more powerful in this respect, it is also much less versatile than a chakra-sensing technique. They see spirits as faint hitodama (balls of eerie fire, in legends thought to be 'death candles', the souls of the departed') in their field of vision, while a sixth sense tells them where other souls are. Clan members seem to have a penchant for remembering the distinct 'color' of each person's hitodama; however, inexperienced clansmen (Chuunin or below) tend to become frazzled by concentrating on this ability when there are many people about, giving them a -1 to reaction time. This ability allows Katō clansmen to perform some of their more intricate spirit/soul techniques (those that don't require their own but involve others'). If the clan member uses Senjutsu chakra for this technique's maintenance cost, its range doubles, making tracking easier.
