Mission Taken:

Jinx looked down at the mission scroll in her hand: the job at hand was simple enough to accomplish and likely wouldn’t take very long. She had to deliver a package for a man, a merchant by the name of Lee to another man named Yen. In the missions details it was said that the package was fragile and she would have to be careful to ensure that nothing happened to it – sounded like a simple enough task and not too bad for a first mission.

So, Jinx left the administrative complex and headed out of the tree and to the market. She moved her way carefully around the many people who were doing their shopping and selling – more people than normal given how nice of a day it was outside. The merchant shop in question wasn’t hard to find: it was known for its precious metals and fine gems and jewelry making skills. More popular than the others if truth be told.

Upon reaching the shop she walked inside, blinking as her eyes adjusted to the darkness inside. “Mister Lee?”, she called out as she walked up to the counter. “Are you here?”

“Be out in a moment, dearie.”, came an elderly male voice from the back of the shop; through a doorway with a sign that hung above it that said “authorized personal only”. She could hear things being moved around inside and then finally footsteps before the man, Lee, appeared. “You must be here to deliver that package for me to Yen. Good, good.” Lee picked a package up that was wrapped in brown paper from behind the counter and placed it on top of it. “Be careful with this and ensure it goes straight to him.”

Jinx nodded in compliance and picked up the package, making sure to be careful so she didn’t accidentally drop it. She walked out of the shop and headed back through the market place. She was careful as she moved through the various bodies milling around. She had to duck or dodge around her fair share of obstacles, but in the end she made it from the market place to the residential district.

Down one street after another she moved, still ensuring that the package was kept safe. When she reached Yen’s house she walked up to the door and knocked. She could hear the shuffling of feet inside and then the squeak of the door as it was opened. “Mister Yen?”, she asked.

The man in the doorway nodded and so she handed over the package she was carrying. “Mister Lee asked me to deliver this to you.”

“Thank you, child.”, said Yen as he took the package from her. Jinx nodded in response and then turned and walked away, off to turn in on her successful mission.
