Mission Taken - Protection Duty:

"Hikari, there's a messenger at the door for you.", Hikari heard her mother yell as her eyelids flew open. Who could possibly need her this early in the morning? She couldn't even feel the sunlight on her face yet, which meant it hadn't even risen up yet. She threw the covers and blankets off of herself and winced as her feet hit the cold wooden floorboards. Shuffling her feet slightly she walked out of her bedroom and over to the slightly open door. She opened it, using Shinsai to see who it was on the other side since her eyes were all but useless.

"May I help you?", Hikari asked sleepily, holding back a yawn that was attempting to escape.

"I have a message for you from Kouki of the Hinowa Council.", the man on the other side of the door stated before he handed over an official looking scroll which Hikari took. The man then gave a respectful nod of his head and disappeared; likely off to deliver more scrolls to other people.

Hikari closed the door as to stop the morning chill from getting into the rest of the house and then began to unroll the scroll. She was surprised to find that the thing had been done in braille and couldn't help but smile at Kouki's thoughtfulness - she hadn't met the rest of the Hinowa Council yet, but if they were as thoughtful as Kouki then this village was going to thrive for years to come. She ran her fingers across the braille as she heard her mother going to work in the kitchen to get breakfast going - Hikari had been assigned the task of looking after a little important girl for a rich and well to do family. The family had been receiving threats recently and therefore always had a guard for the child at all times - today though that guard was sick and they needed someone else to step in and take care of his duties which also happened to be taking the little girl to school, which explained the need for the early morning wake up.

Hikari rolled the scroll back up and walked into her room where she placed it on her dresser. She snagged out a fresh outfit and got herself a quick shower as relieving her bladder. Once dressed again she slipped the scroll into the inside pocket of her bear hoodie and then walked into the kitchen, led by her sensitive nose that told her there were eggs and bacon to be eaten. She woofed down her breakfast fast enough and then after rinsing off her dishes and giving her mother a quick hug she took off - knowing that if her brother needed her at any point their mother would tell him where she had gone off to.

She followed the directions that the scroll had given to the girls house and went up to the door, knocking. The door was opened by the little girl, Miss Hai, who had her book bag already on her back and was ready to go. "Hello, you must be Miss Hai. I'm Hikari Yanagi, I'm going to be your guard for today while your normal guard is out sick." The little girl took her hand and Hikari gave a nod and a smile to her parents as they poked their heads out to see what was going on.

She escorted the girl to her school, surprised to find that she attended where everyone else did. She had met some rich and well to do people in her travels and normally they either privately tutored their children or sent them to rich schools that didn't allow everyone and anyone in. Ah well, she wasn't one to judge the practices of others, so she let it out of her mind. She escorted the girl to her first set of classes; history, then to her second which was math. Lunch arrived shortly afterwards without incident. Afterwards was gym, where Hikari patrolled the yard to ensure that no one was trying to get in while all of the kids played dodge ball - which she took a mental note that MIss Hai seemed to enjoy whole heartedly. 

After gym was her last glass and then the bell was ringing which signaled that the end of the school day had finally arrived. Hikari waited patiently while Miss Hai said goodbye to her friends and then grabbed her things and put her coat on. When finished she took the little girls hand and led her outside and up the street towards home. As they walked Hikari paid close special attention to Shinsai, picking up on a strange black clothed figure whose face was well hidden following them. Hikari turned down a random street and then another, much to Miss Hai's delight who was used to the normal straight home path, just to see if the man would stop following them: he didn't.

Miss Hai and Hikari arrived in front of Miss Hai's house and Hikari whispered to her "Run inside, don't look back, shut the door and lock it. I'll knock five times to let you know it's me." Miss Hai, having been prepared for such an event nodded and did exactly as she was told. She ran up the path that led to her front door, just as the man in black went to follow her. Hikari focused on the lose dirt, causing it to rise up with the right amount of chakra and grab a hold of the man just as Miss Hai was beginning to get the door open. She closed her hand about halfway, causing the dirt to begin to squeeze at the man hard enough to be painful but not hard enough to kill him yet. As she clearly heard the distinct sound of the door shutting and locking she allowed her focus to turn souly onto the man who had been following them; knowing Miss Hai was safe and her parents were likely alerting the authorities.

"You picked the wrong little girl to try following today...", Hikari said, giving a little extra squeeze. She could hear the sound of bones breaking - but she wasn't going to kill him, she was simply going to make it so he couldn't escape and wait for back up to arrive: which she could see through Shinsai was on its way.

The man didn't respond save for the screams from his bones breaking, and as soon as the authorities arrived to take him into custody she released him. She went up to the door as soon as the man was gone and knocked five times. Miss Hai and her family answered. "I just want to let you know that the man has been taken into custody, and won't be a problem anymore." Miss Hai hugged her while her parents thanked her, and after returning the hug she left to go give Kouki the full report on everything that had happened.
